What To Buy?
Ask a tricky question! What you need is a good collection of basics which cover you for most eventualities - one day baby might have very tidy nappies and you use only one outfit; another day every nappy might leak, and every feed create sick, and you will feel like you are changing them every few hours! Every baby is different, and every day is different, and everybody has different washing and drying facilities, but as a rule of thumb, our suggested essential package is:
- 6 or more Long Sleeve Body [depending of the weight of your newborn, when using with cloth nappies, size up]
- 6 or more Short Sleeve Body [depending of the weight of your newborn, when using with cloth nappies, size up]
- 6 or more Sleepsuits for day and night wear [layer on top of the Body's to ensure baby is warm and cosy]
- 2 x Swaddling Blankets [one to use, one to wash] - perfect for all the time when baby is newborn, and for night time when baby gets a bit older - and a great present from the grandparents!
- 2 x Hooded Baby Towels [one to use, one to wash]
- 3 x Bibs [one to use, one to wash and one for emergencies!]
- 2 x Hats [one to wear, one to wash]
- 6 x Muslins
- 6 x flannels
- 1x Dr.Hauschka Rose Day Cream
The Range
Grown exclusively in Egypt, the Liv Baby products reflect the extremely soft and durable features that Egyptian cotton is known for. The dyeing process uses metal-free or vegetable dyes. Accessories such as buttons and zippers are made from organically friendly elements such as wood, shell or nickel-free metals.
Baby Bodies
Liv Baby has two Baby Bodies - short sleeved and long sleeved; baby bodies are your baby's totally essential first layer for warmth and comfort. Bodies help keen nappies in place and ensure backs and tummies are kept draft free and comfortable.
Cotton is much more comfortable for sensitive skin, and with no labels in the back of the neck, these bodies won't irritate there either!
Sleepsuit
The Liv Sleepsuits are all-in-one's with integral feet to ensure baby is warm and protected from drafts. This sleepsuit has poppers down the front of the suit to make access and changing easy for you and baby. These suits are great for day and night up to three months, and then perfect night wear beyond then when baby is more active and moving around [then they might need their feet to be more accessible!]
Gentle of baby's tummy as there is no waist band, they are also roomy enough to be layered on top of the Baby Body's to ensure baby is properly warm and covered.
Hat
A staple item, and not just in winter - when it is windy, rainy, or on a chilly evening, hats ensure that baby's head stays warm, and as baby's head needs to keep warm, a hat is a key item in your baby's wardrobe.
Hooded Towel
Biodynamic Egyptian cotton towelling with a hood to ensure baby's head keeps warm after getting out of the bath.
Swaddling Blanket
Double sided blanket to swaddle your baby and help them feel safe and secure as a newborn, and as they sleep through the night as they get older [see 'Why swaddle' section for more information].
Muslins
A must have general purpose cloth for all your baby needs. Made from organic unbleached cotton, they can be used as a layer in your cloth nappies, or as a burping cloth [you will think it is part of your wardrobe for a while!]. Wash before you use to soften, and buy enough to have one in every room - when you will need it you won't have time to go get it!
Flannels
Have a supply by your nappy station!
Dolls
Organic cotton hand crafted outer, and stuffed with organic cotton, these Dolls make perfect first friends for your baby.
