About Liv

Liv originated in 2005 from an idea to create an ecologically and socially sustainable lifestyle brand that does not compromise on quality, comfort, or style.

We believe that by building an ethical and sustainable business we can go some way to making a worthwhile impact on the world. We strongly believe that the human being is at the centre of what we do and that everything we do should be done in a way that will help develop better lives for all of those who create and use Liv products. With this in mind we strive to accomplish our mission in the most environmentally-friendly manner, seeking any possible future developments and improvements as Liv grows.

Commitment to organically produced materials

We are committed to using organically produced materials in all of our products. All of the cotton used in Liv products is 100% organically produced and the majority of this is certified through GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), of which Soil Assocation is a member.

Liv is a Soil Association licensee and we are proud to use the Soil Assocation Mark to identify all of our licensed products.

Ethical trading

We work with forward-thinking manufacturers in India who have developed a unique supply chain where the cotton farmers own a 20% share of the business. This enables those at the bottom of the chain to benefit from the fruits of the end product, as well as from the organic and Fairtrade premiums that they receive for their cotton.

Go to 'Fair Trade - In The Frame' to see some of the people behind the brand.

Biodegradable packaging wherever possible.. using only materials passed by GOTS!

All Liv packaging is either biodegradable, or it can be recycled. We only ever use materials that have been passed by GOTS and we also minimize the amount of packaging that we use in our packaging to save you having to dispose of it. Our warehouse and offices recycle everything possible, from cardboard to water bottles.

Carbon footprint

Due to our work with fair trade projects in India, air travel is a necessary part of our business. However, we reduce the shipping of products into the UK by air to an absolute minimum. Furthermore, the farm where the Liv offices and warehouse are based has been converted to biodynamic agriculture, which goes some way to recompensing our unavoidable air travel.

We produce ranges of essential items

Liv prides itself on its elegant homeware range, its beautifully soft and unbleached range of clothing, as well as an exclusive range of accessories. These are all produced without compromise to quality, comfort, style or durability so that they should meet your everyday needs.

Merino Wool

Liv has extended its range of materials used to include a beautiful, soft organic fine merino wool. This yarn has been sourced from South Africa where the breed has developed naturally over 50 years and has bred out the need for mulesing to eradicate 'fly-strike'. All LIV organic Merino wool is GOTS certified organic and also holds bluesign® certification. bluesign® is an internationally recognised environmental, health and safety standard giving you a guarantee that along the complete production chain, the products you buy that meet the bluesign® standard only contain components and pass through processes that are harmless to people and the environment. http://www.bluesign.com

Modal

Known for its luxury and softness, Modal is a cellulose fibre made by spinning reconstituted cellulose from beech trees. It is from natural source, but because that natural source is wood Modal is an artificial textile, and because of this is part of the rayon yarn family.

Modal is smoother and softer than cotton and resists shrinkage and colour fading. Its texture is similar to that of cotton or silk and is cool to the touch and breathable so ideal for summer clothing. We have used it in this collection with the Chalk [white] colour way with a combined 70% cotton / 30% modal yarn in order to dip Liv's toes into the new leading science in the emerging world of sustainable textiles.
